Las Palmas – Overview

The capital of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands, Las Palmas is the largest city in the EU outside of the European continent. The city is located 93 miles off the North Western coast of Africa in the Atlantic Ocean.

Las Palmas enjoys a desertic climate with an average annual temperature of 21 C. Known by locals as the Eternal Spring, the climate here has been described as 'the best in the world ' by Thomas Whitmore, director of research on climatology at Syracuse University in the USA.

Las Palmas is both the judicial and commercial capital of the Canary Islands.

With it's high proportion of sunshine hours and large array of beaches, Las Palmas has been a popular holiday hotpot over the last few decades.
